Why Participate?
September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, making it the perfect time to promote mental wellness and remind students they are never alone.
Suicide remains the third leading cause of death among young Louisianans ages 10 to 34. By participating in 988 Day, schools can help ensure students know they have access to free, confidential, 24/7 support whenever they or someone they know is struggling.
Louisiana 988 provides immediate emotional support for problems big and small, and is available 24/7. Call or text 988, or chat online at Louisiana988.org.
Together, we can reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and encourage young people to seek help before a crisis occurs.
